Monday, November 10th, 2008

Client: Asylum Entertainment. The fantastic, award winning team at Asylum are dedicated practitioners and a joy to work for. They produce games mostly aimed for the kids/young teens market, including many of their own, in-house games. These are a few samples illustrating the layout for sections of a Nintendo DS version for High School Musical.

Flash/Character Design: BBC “Taggers” Pitch

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

As part of a pitch for an online animation series called “Taggers”, a tale of young graffiti artists, and their trials and tribulations. Those fantastic Shoreditch creatives,”Preloaded”, were leading the job. I produced these character, background and concept designs, starting as always on paper and finishing all artwork in Flash.

Illustration: White Goods

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

The first time anyone’s asked me to specifically illustrate white goods, this made me realise I could actually draw a half-decent fridge when called upon. These were for Gadgetmedia whose client, Stratagene, sell special storage kit for pharmaceutical goods, & needed a website revamp. I provided these new illos to replace some cartoon style fridges. Will upload grabs from the website when it goes live.

Illustration: Luxor Hilton Concepts

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

These colour sketches were done for marketing & design agency Campaign Works, for a presentation that offered various ideas to their clients, Luxor Hilton. The hotel has recently been refurbished (looks amazing if you like that sort of thing) & they wanted to throw a glitzy themed opening party.

Illustration: Food Service Director

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

These characters were done for a magazine article comparing pay between those in the catering industry & those in other sectors such as finance, services & law. The publication was “Food Service Director” magazine, probably the Vogue of the catering industry, but obscure to the rest of us.

Flash Animation/Character Design: BBC Jam

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

BBC Jam: French Learning.

Characters & designs for the ill-fated BBC Jam. This was just a small part of the BBC’s efforts to provide online learning covering almost every subject in the British school curriculum. The brief here was to turn “live-action” (actors) characters from a short series of French learning films into cartoon characters we could use for online games & tasks such as putting together comic strips. Jam ended in tatters leaving a lot of contributors who had put their heart & soul into this fantastic project, utterly deflated. We believed in the project & speaking for myself, believed it would help children with their studies. It’s downfall was a great shame.

BBC Jam “Les Choix” Comic Strips

Some of the comic strips for BBC Jam “Les Choix” (see above), & how they looked as rough drafts.

BBC Jam

Character designs for BBC Jam online learning games & animations, made in Flash. This was also for Jam’s French learning section. The brief was to create a series of characters from a fictional TV studio that students could use to make & edit their own short films in French.
